GASP – A MAN OF PRINCIPLE…

It is not often I gasp when I read the news. Fabio Capello has resigned (was pushed?) in a meeting with the Chairman of the FA today.

He is sacked, no sorry resigned, because he stated “I have said that in my opinion one cannot be punished until it is official and the court – a non-sport court, a civil court – had made a decision to decide if John Terry has done what he is accused of.”

What did Mr Bernstein say. ”We have accepted Fabio’s resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future.”

Really, so you sack a man, no sorry he resigned of his own accord because of what exactly? So did the negotiation go? OK Fabio we would like you back our decision. Ok so you won’t so if you resign we will honour your leaving early financial package but if you choose to stay we will pursue a disciplinary route and you will/may get nothing. Just a thought….

So who would you rather play for? The man of principle or the man who acts on an acusation that is unproven?

Rebellion in the England ranks? We shall see. I would.

Well done for sticking to your guns Mr Cappello. A man of principle. Is seems to be a rare thing these days, mob approval being more important. Are we in a French revolution scenario with a cultivated face? Discuss…
