I VOTE – LEAVE EU… HERE’S WHY…
I AM VOTING FOR GREAT BRITAIN TO LEAVE THE EUROPEAN UNION ON JUNE 23RD – HERE IS WHY?
We are asked to vote on ‘Stay in Europe’ or ‘Leave’.
I have a vote. I have a Democratic Right to exert power. I am a Peasant with Power. Politicians hate it – such an inconvenience. Yet I have never really taken on the responsibility this holds. Until now…
So… How to decide how to use this responsibility? Instead of not bothering because you can’t trust any of them anyway?
When decisions are complicated it is invariably ( in my experience and belief ) because we/I have come away from base principles.
[ BASE PRINCIPLE ] = the key….
QUESTION: Do I/we want to have the power to govern: our laws, our culture, our security, our trade, our island nature, our belief systems? Or… Do I/we wish to be one of many ‘around a table’ trying to influence what may be imposed upon us from on high?….
ANSWER: I want the power here.
So… I vote LEAVE.
And that’s it… Simple.
After that you make it work….
So I can’t help whittling on about stuff after the fact. But it is pointless. Because we cannot act until it is decided. Yet I have a vision for the future and some thoughts on my choice…
Why would I accede rights to an unelected executive that I don’t know and who controls my countries legislation and the wellbeing anyway? (Perhaps because I can’t trust the numties that are running things like Education – shamefully – and causing me to emigrate as a result!).
Yet – it is for principle I vote. It is for the base values of my country and, at root level, it is not complicated nor personal nor a shouting match.
The details can always be sorted later. The details are the smokescreen, the harbingers of fear and uncertainty, the stops to action.
Advertising – according to Bartle Bogel and Hegarty is around: FEAR, SEX OR GREED – I think I once read – Messers Cameron and Co have adopted FEAR as their campaigning baseline. Boris is trying to do the same methinks.
My campaign for exit could be to FEAR being controlled by people you cannot see. To have a vote that is worthless because your MP is powerless on the big issues. (I know Whip, Parliamentary Politics etc…has him/her curtailed anyway). But – I would campaign on HOPE – hope of a GREAT Britain, an independent powerful voice that is delivering excellence to the world and is a powerful allegance of clans.
My vote to leave is a vote for freedom. Simple.
People may say…
IT WILL ALL GO PAIR SHAPED
THERE WILL BE WAR
WELL REALLY – ARE YOU SURE?…
A) London free of legislation has the ability to compete successfully as a global financial centre. Prove to me otherwise? You cannot.
B) Great Britain (much better than UK) can be a trading nation – in any case. My friend Derek (who runs a multi million security business) is voting OUT – his company trades Internationally – Europe, because of EU Directives is difficult for him.
C) Free of legal requirements GB can choose how to trade, how to legislate.
D) Down the road we will still be free, not tied to a Federal Europe where we have signed away powers that render our leaders unable to do more than cow tow to European Directives. (Are we there now?). Can we actually leave? Or have we signed away that right already and not been told? – See what I mean.. We don’t know!!!
Now do we want to trade with you, be allies with you, stand for justice with you, share our culture with you and experience yours. Do we want to be friends? Of course – and no law says we cannot. This is not a vote for isolation – I hear you Paddy Asdown, being around the table means you are less likely to go to war with each other.
It is simple:
I VOTE OUT FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY
My mate Pete says he is voting ‘stay in’ because he doesn’t trust our Government to sort anything else out. I share his concern. Yet – to give people I don’t know that power is far worse to me, far worse.
THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE – LEAVE.
Next will be? How we can work with you and other nations. We don’t want isolation. It causes wars. We remember. It’s just that the cost of staying in with you in this EU is that of loosing our Sovereignty, and that is too high a price to pay for a man who sings Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and thinks Great Britain should be our brand and we should ditch UK.
Oh yes and Barack Obama. Of whom I have tremendous admiration and respect. Great to hear your view. But I’d love to have a discussion about Democracy with you that addresses our being part of a Federal Europe and ask your views on freedom of choosing laws etc..
We may go behind your deal on Europe but we are a market and you Americans love markets as we do. So we’d sort it out.
Naive view Slater? In many ways yes. I do not have the time nor inclination to delve deep into the machinations of the EU Directives that govern our lives. I would bet though that they will not get less as time progresses. And I am by nature a stand alone type of character. All these come into play.
It’s a big vote…. Good luck with your decision.
